Remember, remember

Memories.  One of my favourite pastimes.  Making them, remembering them, laughing and smiling about them.  It brings me so much joy to take my mind back to the places I hold close to my heart, to be there again, to remember how I felt at that exact moment in time, to relive it in my […]

Then versus now

For those of us too close to 40yrs than we’d like to admit, we all remember growing up in the 80’s, something I for one am kinda proud of.  Perms, stonewashed jeans, Grotbags, BROS and Walkman’s are all things I’m sure we all remember vividly from that time in our lives, but sitting in my […]

Changing lanes, changing lives

Not having enough time is something I’ve always blamed on having children, between playing housemaid, taxi driver and referee, they tend to suck up every last minute of any potential downtime in the day, whilst I’m trying to make it go slower.  We’re all busy in our lives, juggling our commitments and chores, but is […]

Be wealthy, or be rich?

We all had that dream growing up right?  You know the one, having loads of money, the big house, nice cars in the driveway, multiple holidays across the globe, designer clothes.  The one when you had made it, you were finally on the map, you were rich!  So how’d that one turn out for you?

Outside of the bubble

So Hans Christian Andersen once said, “To travel is to live”, a quote which still rings true today, and one I take my mind to often.

Positives, promises and smiles

So work has been a little pants of late, no change to the status quo there, and Friday, I decided enough is enough.  I do my job, and I do it very well, but could I do more if the shackles came off and the company allowed me to work my magic and make them […]

Being a parent, without a parent

We all get those times, as parents, when we need a helping hand, when we need someone to tell us what to do, or how to do it, or at least give us a confidence boost and tell us we’re not ballsing the whole thing up and that our kid is not gonna grow up […]

Tempus Fugit, it sure does

Dreading this day may sound a little too much, it’s not a negative and we must be optimistic of what’s ahead, but I have so many mixed emotions as the first born starts secondary school tomorrow.

In a heartbeat

Sitting here writing this on the plane, homeward bound, in the dark, not having the luxury of being able to sleep at 38,000 feet, I’m reflecting on my week in LA, which was pretty amazing.  Lots to see and certainly lots to do, and with the sun hitting 103F at its highest, it was more […]

Work trip, guilt trip

It’s so tough being torn between the two things that mean the most to you.  Your family and your career.  Always wanting both from a young age, I guess I never did really consider how people did it, how it would work.  Not having parents doesn’t help but I guess I never really did contemplate […]

Time flies, but memories last forever

So we’re not exactly approaching the new year, which is my usual time of the year to start planning the forthcoming 12months, but having heard tragic news last week of a friend of a friend, I figured why wait.

The building blocks of my soul

My phrase to the children of late has been “as soon as I finish this”.   Life is hectic, and I’m sure I’m not alone in the race to get everything done in a day, home chores and work, and still make time for kids, and for wine before falling asleep!   But daily routines have […]

Pass the play book…

There must be one.  At this point in time, the 21st century, when cars are about to be run on batteries, the weekly shop can be done off your phone, and Marty McFly’s self-tying shoes are a thing, someone must have written the rule book on this game we call life.

Creating our summer fun

creating our summer fun

We have a plan!  I’m a serial planner so of course we do. To do lists, notebooks, calendars, phone reminders, diary for a brain, it’s all logged, everything!   I thrive on being organised and feel a pang of anxiety if I were ever to forget anything, but having this built-in need to be this orchestrated […]

Are we done yet?

I always wanted three.  Since a young age, playing with my dolls houses with my sisters, one of my favourite childhood pastimes, I always said I wanted to be a mum of three.

School holiday’s on a budget

So school holidays are enough of a headache, always have been really, especially when I was working office based, and the hubby was employed.  We struggled every time to juggle childcare and always used to dread the holiday’s approaching, feeling guilty about the fact that they were suppose to be fun!   I’m sure I wasn’t […]

Keeping up with the Jones’, and the Smiths’, and the Davies’….

So our Daughter celebrates her 8th birthday tomorrow!  Can’t believe it, I have an 8 year old baby, our youngest!  So besides feeling my age this last week, I’ve been kept busy planning for her first party with her school friends, and a second family gathering, which both include balloons, bunting, matching table wear, and […]

Here goes…

So, I started a blog. Something I’ve been talking about doing for quite some time, but never got around to actually doing it, like most things on this carousel called ‘life post kids’. But it’s not just me I’m sure. I’m not the only one that lacks the time to do anything remotely selfishly enjoyable, but that’s the choice we make I guess, after we leave the crazy, young, carelessly free days and decide that paying thousands of pounds worth of monthly bills, doing daily chores and being strapped to multiple little people is the way forward. But of course it’s not all bad.
